Inspiration for a Tiny Gymnast Heart

So my family and I just got back from a much needed vacation, in Texas visiting family. Let’s be brutally honest here people traveling with 2 kids is miserable some times. I fully expect that something with go wrong and that theres nothing I can do to change it, so roll with the punches.

While in Texas my daughter and I had the opportunity to go to the NCAA Championship in Fort Worth. It was incredible to be able to show my daughter what she loves at the collegiate level. I did not tell her that we were going and it was a complete surprise for her.  Seeing her face as we walked up those stadium steps to see everything she had seen on TV come to life, was better than any Christmas she had ever seen! Watching at home does no justice to how amazing it is to see it in person.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t enjoying myself as well! The collegiate level is so fun. There is so much love in the air and you can tell when a gymnast is on the floor and their team mates are on the sidelines doing every dance move with them.

For some that don’t know the Final Four consisted of UCLA, LSU, Oklahoma and Denver. UCLA were looking for their second championship in a row but took home 3rd. Oklahoma who was beat out my UCLA last year by .0375 points. Just so everyone is aware, thats one non pointed toe or slight wobble. UCLA was hoping to come back and win the title again but Oklahoma back back this year with a-vengance!

gahhh Kyla Ross (phone Image)

When meeting Kyla Ross, She had asked if Monroe did Gymnastics as well. She very proudly said “YES!! I’m a level 2!!” Everyone starts somewhere. I then told her about her recent concern about being small, which Monroe has always been super tiny (thanks to her dad!), But she hadn’t been embracing it. Monroe worries that because she is small that she will not excel. As a mom I have told her time and time again that being small in Gymnastics is to your advantage BUT that doesn’t mean anything unless it comes from an Olympian ….right?!

Kyla took the time to tell Monroe about her growth experience in gymnastics and how size should not keep you from doing what you love. It brought tears to my eyes. These girls had been competing all day and though the day didn’t end how they wanted they took the time to have a pep talk with my daughter. This is why Gymnastics is a family, I have yet to find a gymnast that wouldn’t take the time to nurture the future of gymnastics. Even the older team girls at Monroes gym (Decal Gymnastics) love to help.

This trip was say the least was amazing but this 2 day trip to Fort Worth was trilling and motivating. On the way back to the car after meeting Katelyn and Kyla Monroe said “Mom, this was the best day ever!! I can’t wait to give back in the gym when we get home!”

I agree babes, I agree <3
